Now we’re talking. If the above two lions are brothers, then this big guy must be the dad. Coming in second in size on this list, he only loses to Steiff’s other – much more expensive – studio lion above.
The two studio lions definitely have a different look to them. Whereas the earlier lion went for hyper realism, with a slightly menacing open mouth and expression, this big guy keeps the sweet, kind look and theme that most of Steiff’s new lion range seems to share. While I’d have a hard time picking the design I like more, there’s no denying this guy’s charm, and his textured mane looks and feels great.
He’s more affordable than the other studio lion, but he’s still certainly not cheap. But for your money, you get a massive, beautifully crafted lion that stands on his four paws confidently, just waiting for you to jump on him. Simply put, he’s amazing. If someone gave me this as a gift I’d love them forever.
